Cambridge IGCSE & A Level Results 2026: Dates, Times, and What to Do Next

Cambridge IGCSE and A Level Results 2026 guide
Enjoyed this?

If you sat Cambridge IGCSE, AS or A Level exams in the June 2026 series, results season is here. This guide covers when Cambridge releases results, what time they appear in your country, how to access them, and — most importantly — what to do next, whether you are celebrating or planning a retake.

When are Cambridge results released in 2026?

Cambridge International (CAIE) releases results for the June series in mid-August. For the June 2026 series:

  • Cambridge International AS & A Level: released to schools on Tuesday 12 August 2026, then to students via school portals the same week.
  • Cambridge IGCSE and O Level: released to schools on Tuesday 18 August 2026 (typically a few days after A Level results).
  • UK A Level results day (JCQ): Thursday 13 August 2026.
  • UK GCSE results day (JCQ): Thursday 20 August 2026.

Your school receives results before students do. Most schools share them the same morning, either in person, by email, or through their portal.

Results by country — quick links

Need local exam-calendar context (release windows, school-term timing, or post-result services)? Use the country hub that matches where you sat your exams:

What time do results come out? (by country)

Cambridge publishes results at a fixed UK time, which means the local time depends on where you are:

Region Approximate local time
United Kingdom Early morning (BST)
India Early–mid afternoon (IST)
Malaysia / Singapore Evening (MYT/SGT) — this is why “IGCSE results Malaysia time” spikes every August
UAE / Gulf Early afternoon (GST)
Australia (AEST) Late evening

Check with your school for the exact release window — schools sometimes hold results until the next school day.

How to check your Cambridge results

  1. Through your school — the standard route. Your exams officer distributes statements of results.
  2. Cambridge Results Service / CIE Direct — if your school has given you a candidate login, you can view results online the day of release.
  3. Private candidates — results go to the centre where you sat the exams; contact that centre.

Your statement of results shows grades per syllabus. The certificate arrives at your school a few months later — you will need it for university applications, so collect it.

Understanding your grades and grade boundaries

  • IGCSE is graded A–G (or 9–1 for some syllabuses); AS & A Level are graded A–E (AS: a–e).
  • Grade boundaries are published by Cambridge shortly after results release. If you are 1–3 marks below a boundary, an enquiry about results (remark) may be worth it.
  • Enquiries about results (EAR): your school submits these — there is a deadline a few weeks after release, so decide quickly.

1. Remark (Enquiry About Results)

Best when you are a small number of marks below a boundary. Grades can go up or down. Ask your exams officer for the fee and deadline.

2. Retake in the October/November 2026 series

Cambridge runs a second series every year. Entries for October/November 2026 typically close in early-to-mid September 2026 at most centres — confirm the exact deadline with your exams officer. That gives you roughly 8–10 weeks to improve — enough to move one or two grades in a subject with focused, targeted work.

3. Reassess your pathway

If a retake does not fit your timeline, talk to your school counsellor about foundation years, alternative university offers, or January-intake programmes.

What to do if you did well

  • A Level students: confirm your university offer (UCAS, or your local admissions process), and keep your statement of results safe.
  • IGCSE students moving to AS Level or IB: the jump in difficulty is real. See our guide on SL vs HL subject choices in IB if you are weighing the IB route.
  • Consider a free demo session to get ahead on the first term’s hardest topics.

FAQ

Q: What time do IGCSE results come out in Malaysia?
Cambridge releases results at a fixed UK morning time, which is evening in Malaysia (MYT). Your school controls when you actually see them — many Malaysian international schools release the following morning.

Q: Can I retake just one subject?
Yes. Cambridge allows single-syllabus entries in the October/November series.

Q: Do universities see my first attempt?
Policies vary. Many universities consider your best result, but some competitive courses ask for all sittings. Check each university’s policy.
