The AP exam dates for 2027 are out, and one thing is different this year: start times now depend on your time zone. For students in India, the Gulf and Singapore, that changes what exam morning looks like.
Here are the dates, the new start times, the portfolio deadlines and one deadline that is only 28 days away: the day schools must order their exams.

What changed for 2027
College Board has changed start times in some places so that secure exam questions cannot be shared across time zones. For most schools, including all schools in the lower 48 US states, Hawaii and Washington, D.C., nothing changes: exams still start at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. local time. In other places, start times are now set by time zone.
- The two daily slots are now called Session 1 and Session 2. They used to be morning and afternoon.
- Exams can still begin up to one hour after the listed start time.
- In Alaska, Session 1 starts at 7 a.m. and Session 2 at 11 a.m. local time.
- Early testing or testing at other times is not allowed under any circumstances.
- There are two new exams this year: AP Business with Personal Finance and AP Cybersecurity. AP Networking is a pilot and runs only in selected schools.

In India, that means a 6:30 a.m. start. Plan your sleep, travel and breakfast around it, and do at least one full practice paper at that time.

AP Digital Portfolio deadlines
Some subjects need work submitted online before the exam. All deadlines are at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
- April 30, 2027: AP Computer Science Principles (Create performance task), AP Seminar and AP Research (performance tasks), and the new AP World Languages and Cultures deadline for the Personalized Project Reference.
- May 7, 2027: AP Art and Design, where students submit all three portfolio components as final.
Eastern Time is behind India by 9.5 hours in April, so a deadline at 11:59 p.m. Eastern ends at 9:29 a.m. the next day in India. Ask your teacher for your school’s own earlier cut-off.
Late testing: May 17–21
Late testing is for students who cannot test in the first two weeks of May, or who have two exams at the same time. It uses different versions of the exams, and every student testing late at a school sits them on the scheduled late-testing days. Most reasons for late testing carry no extra fee; some can add $40 per exam, so ask your coordinator.

Ordering and fees: the date to know is November 13
You do not order AP exams yourself. Your school’s AP coordinator does it, and the on-time deadline is November 13, 2026 for full-year and first-semester courses. Courses that start after that date have until March 12, 2027.
- Exam fee: $99 per exam at schools in the US, US territories and Canada (and DoWEA schools, as College Board words it). $129 per exam at schools everywhere else. Fees can differ at College Board–authorised test centres outside the US.
- Ordering late: exams ordered between November 14, 2026 and March 12, 2027 carry an extra $40 per exam.
- Cancelling: exams cancelled after November 13 can also cost $40 each.
- Paying: schools decide when and how to collect payment, so ask your coordinator for the date.
If your school does not give AP exams, ask early about a school or authorised test centre that does.
Plan backwards from your first exam
From 16 October to the first exam day, May 3, is 199 days, about 28 weeks. Use your own first exam date; this is an example, not an official schedule.
